I suggest you change your perceptions so that it's impossible to offend you. That is a measure of growth for which we all should strive.

I'm not sure how 'American rights' relate to being offended, but I completely agree with your 2nd paragraph. Taking offense goes hand-in-hand with closing off your mind to new ideas.
